Hi Dani, I'm new to your community (the last month or so). Recently I've seen several writers decide to remove their paywalls and shift the dynamic with their readers. It's a huge leap and I admire your willingness to trust your intuition (and your readership!) and lead with your values. I'm launching my own substack soon and I've struggled with the same: I want to write because I have things to say and my hope is that others find value in what I create. But putting a monetary value on my writing before it's even out in the world and building community/relationship with readers that is rooted first in money feels...off. Anyway--thank you for leading the way. It's very inspiring. Happy new year! xx
Thanks for sharing this, Dani! While many in my online circles have moved toward paid content, Iβve also decided to keep my writing and weekly Friday Favorites newsletter free (and, for now, also old school via FloDesk and my blog vs Substack). π This has felt good to me, as well. Really appreciate you sharing your perspective and decision on this -- thank you!
Thank you so much for removing the paywall! I am a subscriber to your substack, but not to others. It is a frustration when you can't read a blog post simply because you can't afford another $4-$9 a month. Thank you for being an example!
Proud of you for trusting your gut! It is a tricky path to navigate as a small business owner, and I love that you found the decision that felt right for TIH! (and I, for one, am honored to be a paid sub for you forever & ever! Admire ya, lady!)
Very commendable!
Thanks, Jaimie π«ΆπΌ

Thanks for this Danni - great resources. I'm happy to be a subscriber, but even happier that it's altruistic now. Happy New Year!
