Browser efficiency 101 + what to read, watch, listen to and enjoy...
Most knowledge workers spend the majority of their day doing browser-based work, so a little efficiency in this area can make a big difference.
Letโs round up my recent content on browser efficiency so you can save time and stay organized.
Start by downloading and installing Google Chrome (my recommended browser). Then, work your way through these three tutorials:
Organize Your Work with User Profiles ๐ง๐ป
Get Organized with Bookmark Folders ๐
How to Set up Designated Browser Tabs ๐ป
It shouldnโt take you more than 15-30 minutes to set up, and you can thank me later (I accept payment in the form of cute dog photos, cold beers, and registering to vote).
And now for a quick peek at my dining room โ where Iโve been watching this lovely bouquet of daffodils slowly open throughout the week. Spring is so close, mโfriends!
Have a great weekend!
๐ READ: I shared this book a couple months ago, but have finally started reading it and wanted to recommend it once again. The author,
, originally conducted the research for an episode of NPRโs Fresh Air back in 1998, but after getting so much positive feedback from listeners turned his 100+ interviews into a beautiful book. It really transports you to Palestine and provides valuable context for the current conflict that has unfolded. Grab a copy.๐บ WATCH: Just when I think Iโve watched the craziest documentary I have ever seen, Netflix comes out with a new one. To summarize: the documentary exposes a network of โAcademiesโ for troubled teens where children were brainwashed and abused. By the end, you learn that it expanded to the parentโs as well โ extorting some of them for upwards of $200,000. The company was previously known as WWASP and is still operating!!!! Absolutely wild. I loved that this documentary was created by a group of female survivors โ one of whom grew up to be a filmmaker. Watch the trailer.
Ready to master digital organization?! My next group program is opening soon! Join the launch list to learn more about it + stay in the loop.
๐ง LISTEN: How many gun stores do you think there are in the entire country of Mexico? The answer is: 1 (yes, ONE!!!!). And itโs located on a military base. Mexico has strict gun laws, which is why Mexico is suing American gun manufacturers for $10 billion. Could this pave the way for additional lawsuits to hold America accountable for the way it mass produces and distributes violent weapons? I hope so. Tune in to this episode of What Next with Mary Harris for the scoop.
๐งก ENJOY: Iโve got a weird one this week: my new office chair. When we relocated to Denmark we thought it was only going to be a for a year. So I didnโt put much thought into buying very basic office chairs. Welpโฆsix years later and my back definitely knows I spend 5 days a week in a $50 chair from IKEA. Since we have a shared office space in our main room (hereโs a tour around our 75 sq. meter home) I had several boxes to check, such as:
โ
Neutral color
โ
Medium-high back so they didnโt stick up too far behind the couch
โ
Adjustable lumbar support
โ
A thick, smooooshy seat
โ
Under $200
We finally found an option that checked all those boxes and upgraded this week to the Hbada Butterfly Chair. This is the home office upgrade that we all need and deserve. (They also have a chair with leg rests which had me TEMPTED!)
I read The Lemon Tree on your recommendation over the holidays and I can't thank you enough! I grew up in the Middle East (in the Emirates) and still didn't know so much of the history. The story of Dalia & Bashir really brings the reality of the conflict to light and it's utterly heartbreaking to see what's happening in Gaza now. I love so many of your recommendations and really look forward to your Friday emails :)
Oh shoot - might have to buy this chair!! Thanks for the best recommendations, as always. I'm looking forward to reading the lemon tree.
