Designated browser tabs + what to read, watch, listen to and enjoy...
There are two problem areas I most commonly see when helping people streamline their systems and increase their efficiency.
📧 The first is email — which is a surprise to no one. Hours of our day can easily get sucked up by reading, responding to, and organizing emails and other forms of asynchronous communication like chat.
💻 But another place that sucks up a lot of our time is browser-based work. The average worker goes in and out of dozens of sites and services on a daily basis, with passwords and processes to accompany each one of them 😣
I have several methods for increasing browser efficiency, and my favorite is Designated Browser Tabs. Which was this week’s topic + tutorial post! Head over to the full post for more about how these work and how they can not only save you time — but can help you develop new habits and routines. There’s even a video tutorial if you need me to walk you through the steps.
🧡 Help a Family Evacuate from Gaza
Tomorrow Ahmed will arrive in Egypt to begin trying to evacuate his family members out of Gaza with the funds collected so far. Anything helps! The effort has just passed the $24K mark. If you are able to donate or share this information with people in your network you can do so here. Read more about Ahmed’s story in issue #199. Thank you to all who have been able to make a donation!
📚 READ: The first time I visited Denmark, one of the first things that stood out to me was the masculinity. I think most Americans who have traveled abroad to countries like Italy, Spain, or the Nordics know what I’m talking about. Men holding hands with other men. Men expressing their emotions. Men who hug their friends goodbye and kiss them on the cheek. I loved this profile by professor of psychology Marie Helweg-Larsen titled “What Americans Can Learn About Danish Masculinity” and I thought it was really interesting…and accurate.
📺 WATCH: I woke up the morning after the Grammy’s and instantly streamed the Tracy Chapman x Luke Combs duet (watch the entire thing here!)…and it made me oddly emotional. Tracy’s “Fast Car” has always been one of my favorite songs, but I struggled to put my finger on what exactly felt so poignant about their performance. Thankfully the internet has really delivered with some great content about the collab:
Driving in Circles: The generational longing of “Fast Car” by
- I cried reading this piece. Sarah is arguably one of the greatest journalists of our time and I love that she occasionally covers topics like this…and does it so beautifully. From the piece: “Fast Car” is not a relic of its time but tragically timeless. Combs’ cover could stay faithful because nothing in this country got better. That “Fast Car” can be passed down through generations without requiring explanation is both a songwriting triumph and a grim indictment of America.” Read it here.Tracy Chapman’s Grammys Appearance Was the Event of the Night. Here’s How It Happened from Rolling Stone - Loved this peek behind the scenes. Hoping we might see more of Tracy from time to time. Read it here.
🎧 LISTEN: Relationships today are much different from a few decades ago. The number of close friends Americans report having has been on a steep decline since the 1990s, especially among men. 50% of women over 65 are unpartnered. Around 40% of children are born into single-parent households. What does this say about society and how might we need to start reimagining the important relationships in our lives? Thought this conversation made a lot of good points, especially about how we prioritize friendships. Listen here or wherever you get podcasts.
🧡 ENJOY: You know I’m all about hydration and am a big fan of hydrating drinks that are packed with flavor and additional benefits. This one has been a favorite lately:
Juice from 1/2 squeezed orange or clementine
1 orange slice
1 oz cranberry juice
Dash of cinnamon
Add them to the bottom of your mug and stir to combine. Add a Cran-Apple (or similar) tea bag, and top with 6-8 ounces of hot water. Enjoy!

I started watching a mocumentary series on Netflix called American Vandal. It’s so spot on in terms of spoofing popular documentary and podcast styles while simultaneously making many dick jokes. I’m only three episodes in but am loving it so far.
I just finished a wonderful book called The Frozen River by Ariel Lawhorn. It's historical fiction based on the life of Martha Ballard. Always sad when a great read ends. Also recently watched You Are What You Eat: A Twin Experiment on Netflix about 2-3 weeks ago and still am unable to eat meat. I was a chicken, ground turkey and fish person, but now just fish. I've seen many documentaries about food/nutrition and how animals are treated in the U.S., but this one just really hit me. Also seeing how different diets, vegan vs. omnivore, affect our bodies was really wild.
