THE WEEKLY PAGE 📝 No. 259
Send me your ideas and feedback + what to read, watch, listen to and enjoy...
Last week I had the opportunity to meet up in-person with my client, Helena (a locational astrologer✨) , while she was visiting Copenhagen from Paris.
As we sat at my favorite rooftop coffeeshop, she said “I love your newsletter! Have you ever thought about having an ‘action’ section to direct us to one simple thing we could do each week to move the needle on something important?”
This is a story about why its important to get other people’s eyes on our work! Sometimes we’re just too “in it” to see the obvious. You’ll now find an “action” item at the bottom of each week’s newsletter and I hope you find it helpful.
This is also a good time to remind you that I include a link to this feedback form at the bottom of every email, where you can suggest topics, ask questions, or provide feedback. What ideas or suggestions do you have for me? I’d love to know what you’d find helpful as we move into the last half of the year. Tell me here.
📚 READ: The Trump Administration recently announced it will end funding for the specialized suicide hotline for LGBTQ+ callers — a frustrating decision that will have tragic consequences. These hotlines are sometimes the only form of support or therapy people have access to, and their services have saved countless lives. This journalist spent a year working at a suicide hotline and shared his experience in this recent piece, What I Heard on a Suicide Hotline for Trans Kids, for The New York Times. Willing to help? See this weeks Action item, below.
📺 WATCH: This series came out a couple years ago and I absolutely adored it — A League of Their Own is the perfect series to jump into in the middle of summer. It’s based on the 1992 film by the same name, but has a few adjustments to the plot and characters and has a few of my favorite actors (Abbi Jacobson and D’arcy Carden!). Watch the trailer below:
🎧 LISTEN: I’ve been warning about the threat of white domestic terrorism for a long time, and a reader recently sent me this podcast series which I dove into this week. Both seasons explore the threat of white domestic terrorism, and in the show’s second season they share the story of Agent Payne, who went undercover to expose America’s Nazis. Listen here or wherever you listen to podcasts:
🧡 ENJOY: Soon, many of us will have basil overflowing in our garden (if we’re lucky!) and while my mom is an expert at making and freezing pesto with her abundant supply, I’m itching to try this Lemon + Basil Hummus recipe from The Planted Pantry. Just looks so fresh and summery!
✊🏻ACTION: As federal support for the LGBTQ+ suicide hotline comes to a close, we can help make a difference by supporting organizations like The Trevor Project, which provides chat, phone, and text support to young LGBTQ+ people along with free online resources, available 24/7. You can make a donation here or learn how to become a volunteer with them.
