Join "Hands Off!" actions tomorrow (April 5!) + what to read, watch, listen to and enjoy...
A great way to counter the stress and anxiety you may be feeling about the state of democracy is to get involved and be in community with people who feel the same.
There are a series of peaceful protests being organized across the US, internationally, and virtually for TOMORROW Saturday, April 5th! The request of this movement is simple, โDonald Trump and Elon Musk think this country belongs to them. Theyโre taking everything they can get their hands on, and daring the world to stop them. On Saturday, April 5th, weโre taking to the streets nationwide to fight back with a clear message: Hands off!โ It is being organized by MoveOn, Public Citizen, Stand Up America, and the Not Above The Law Coalition.
Whether itโs your first protest or your 800th, consider making time this weekend to attend an event near you, which you can locate on the event website:
With hundreds of events planned there is likely one near you, but if you are unable to get to an in-person event or are unable to march for other reasons, be sure to check out this post from a reader that shares information about virtual events that you can participate in from home.
Our monthly review day for April will be this Monday, April 7 from 9-10:30 AM! Join me for 90-minutes of planning, organizing, and goal setting. RSVP HERE. Canโt make it this month? Check out the upcoming details above.
๐ READ: โNonviolent protests are twice as likely to succeed as armed conflict โ and those engaging a threshold of 3.5% of the population have never failed to bring about changeโ. If youโve never heard of the โ3.5% Ruleโ Iโd recommend reading this article โ it might provide you with some much needed hope + inspiration (and a reason to join this weekendโs movement!). Read the article here.
๐บ WATCH: We moved this week and although our new space is slightly bigger, it is still a small space at around 800 square feet and, in my opinion, is a much more challenging space. So lately Iโve been watching a lot of this Never Too Small YouTube channel that showcases people who live in small spaces. Itโs so inspiring and there are so many great ideas for storage, modular furniture, etc. no matter how big your home is! Check out the channel here.
๐ง LISTEN: I donโt listen to nearly as many podcasts as I used to, but The New Abnormal has been in my rotation for a while now. I just love the co-host, Danielle Moodie โ she has a very raw, no-bullshit approach โ beware of adult language in every episode. Listen below or wherever you listen to podcasts.
๐งก ENJOY: My sister recently told me about this app called Goods Unite Us. You can type in any brand or businesses and the app will summarize their donation history so you know which policies they are supporting with your $$$$. Learn more about it here.
