📚 READ: It’s always wild for me to observe “the rest of the world” watching US elections. People have to care about them — because a US election impacts the entire world. I don’t think it should be any surprise that people outside of the US tend to favor Kamala Harris (a poll in Norway recently showed her winning 90% of the Norwegian vote to Trump’s 10%). A Trump win will most likely be detrimental to Europe, as he’s likely to switch support from Ukraine to Russia, putting all of Europe at risk. I loved the way this article broke down some of the key issues at stake, particularly for those outside the US, and explains where each candidate stands. 📺 WATCH: It has been A WHILE since I fell completely in love with a show and all it’s characters — but that’s what happened when I started (and then finished two seasons of) Somebody Somewhere. I also don’t think I’ve ever gotten such a strong reaction when sharing a show on Instagram — SO many people absolutely love this show. IMO it’s a very real portrayal of American life, American families, later-in-life friendships, sibling relationships, LGBTQ+ communities in more rural areas + so much more. Watch the trailer here:
🎧 LISTEN: Money and the economy will be on topic that is top of mind as Americans head to the polls! This video is a great breakdown of how Harris and Trump differ on taxes, tariffs, deficits + more. I could only find this video on Instagram or TikTok, but hope you’re able to view it somewhere, but if not there’s also this article, 23 Nobel Laureates Say Harris’s Economic Plan is Vastly Superior to Trump’s.
🧡 ENJOY: Recipes always get me when they say something like “turn a modest can of beans into a spectacular dinner!” Do I want to magically transform something modest into something spectacular? You bet I do. Excited to try these Creamy, Spicy, Tomato Beans and Greens from NY Times Cooking. Bet it will pair so nicely with a crunchy loaf of sourdough.
