Six months of grief + what to read, watch, listen to and enjoy...

Next Wednesday will mark six months since we had to say goodbye to our beloved dog, Walter. It would have also been his 13th birthday.

So this week felt like a good time to update the article I wrote in the aftermath of losing him, What to Do When Your Dog is Dying. I’ve updated it with what I’ve learned in the months since, what I did when I found myself falling apart, and how we feel after three weeks of dog sitting for friends. I added the new content to the bottom under “6 Month Update”.

📚 READ: One of the arguments I’m seeing as the election nears is the idea that Democrats are being alarmist about the threats posed by re-electing Trump (you know, the guy who still — four years later — refused to admit he lost the 2020 election). Pointing out his authoritarian tendencies will get you quickly ridiculed by his supporters and that has always been interesting to me, given many of the world’s leading experts on authoritarianism have been very clear about the threat he presents. In this opinion piece for the New York Times, Jamelle Bouie recounts when General Mark Milley, the chairman of Trump’s Joint Chiefs of Staff, stated “No one has ever been as dangerous to this country as Donald Trump. 📺 WATCH: Looking for a scary movie this weekend? Woman of The Hour dropped on Netflix today and tells the story of a woman who encountered serial killer Rodney Alcala, who was a contestant on a popular dating show in 1978. The film currently has 92% on Rotten Tomatoes. Watch the trailer below:
