Next Wednesday will mark six months since we had to say goodbye to our beloved dog, Walter. It would have also been his 13th birthday.
So this week felt like a good time to update the article I wrote in the aftermath of losing him, What to Do When Your Dog is Dying. Iβve updated it with what Iβve learned in the months since, what I did when I found myself falling apart, and how we feel after three weeks of dog sitting for friends. I added the new content to the bottom under β6 Month Updateβ.
Since publishing that post, hundreds of you have reached out to tell me how helpful you found the information I shared, and it really does heal my heart a little bit each time. Thank you π§‘
π READ: One of the arguments Iβm seeing as the election nears is the idea that Democrats are being alarmist about the threats posed by re-electing Trump (you know, the guy who still β four years later β refused to admit he lost the 2020 election). Pointing out his authoritarian tendencies will get you quickly ridiculed by his supporters and that has always been interesting to me, given many of the worldβs leading experts on authoritarianism have been very clear about the threat he presents. In this opinion piece for the New York Times, Jamelle Bouie recounts when General Mark Milley, the chairman of Trumpβs Joint Chiefs of Staff, stated βNo one has ever been as dangerous to this country as Donald Trump. Now I realize heβs a total fascist. He is the most dangerous person to this country.β Read the article here.
πΊ WATCH: Looking for a scary movie this weekend? Woman of The Hour dropped on Netflix today and tells the story of a woman who encountered serial killer Rodney Alcala, who was a contestant on a popular dating show in 1978. The film currently has 92% on Rotten Tomatoes. Watch the trailer below:
π§ LISTEN: Glennon Doyle and her co-hosts sat down with Minnesota Governor and VP-hopeful Tim Walz this week! They discuss who should be making decisions about womenβs bodies, what the Harris-Walz administration will do to protect queer kids, and how theyβll make schools safer. Itβs a great conversation, and I loved when he said βYou might not be into politics. But politics is into you.β So damn true, governor. ππ» You can listen wherever you get podcasts or watch the video on YouTube.
𧑠ENJOY: Iβve moved some of my herbs from our garden into a pot on the kitchen countertop and to be honest Iβm not 100% theyβll make it through the winter (anyone have tips for indoor herbs?!), but at the moment the thyme is looking great so I tracked down a recipe to use some of it up! Grab the recipe for this Creamy Butternut Squash Gnocchi with Sausage, Thyme, and Sage.
Watched Woman of the Hour over the weekend and it was so, so well-done. I want more scary movies directed by women!
