THE WEEKLY PAGE π No. 194
FOUR year anniversary of The Weekly Page + this week's picks for work, wellness, and wonder.
This Wednesday marked the four-year anniversary of The Weekly Page! Big hat tip to those of you who were here for the very first edition ππ»
When I first started sending The Weekly Page, I would open each one with βHey, Honey!β β an ode to my main brand, Thyme is Honey.
One evening while in a pub, I excused myself to use the restroom and my newsletter happened to auto-send while I was away from the table. I came back to my husband looking a bit stricken. He had seen the βHey, Honey!β email pop up on his phone while I was gone and momentarily thought I had snuck off to the bathroom to email my secret lover π I still laugh about that one.
Plenty of things have changed over these four years! I no longer call you honey, and weβve covered a lot of ground together. Been a helluva ride!
Iβm celebrating this milestone along with Shop Small Saturday by offering one of the biggest discounts of all time on all of my paper products.
You can take 20% off all orders over $100 with the code SHOPSMALL20 at checkout. PLUS you can combine this with the bulk order discount that is automatically applied when you order 2 or more of the same product. Did I mention that US shipping is free?! This can make for some major savings π Head over to DailyPageShop.com to browse my collection of holistic and sustainable planners, calendars, and notepads. They are all produced on a woman-owned printing press in my home state of Minnesota and we plant a tree for each planner sold.
Thanks so much for being here and supporting my work in all forms!
π READ: Iβve recommended it before, but the holidays + end of the year always feel like a good time to remind you that this is my favorite book on nutrition. If you want to prioritize nutrition WITHOUT struggling through yet another diet I cannot recommend Gentle Nutrition enough. It will totally change the way you think about both dieting + food. Grab a copy here.
π¦ LEARN: Is COVID really over? Weβd assume so from looking around, but in October over 1,000 Americans were dying PER WEEK from COVID. Itβs become increasingly hard to find reliable information, so I find myself continuing to rely on this post which summarizes some of the most important data, with each point linking to a page that summarizes the research. It has over 300 sources in total and is an incredible archive of information. A Covid FAQ with over 300 Sources.
π LEARN: As the ongoing war between Israel and Gaza intensifies ahead of a potential pause, I want to continue sharing some of the resources Iβve found helpful.
The Past Didnβt Go Anywhere: Making Resistance to Antisemitism Part of All Our Movements - It is hard to speak out against Israelβs treatment of Palestinians without being accused of Anti-Semitism, and at the same time, Anti-Semitism is alive and well, even in progressive movements. This is one of the most helpful resources I have found and Iβd encourage you to read it + share.
Who are The Palestinian Prisoners Who could Be Released in a Hostage Deal - with a deal on the horizon that would release 3 Palestinians for each Israeli released in an exchange, itβs worth noting that thousands of Palestinians are currently being held in Israeli jails, some of whom are women and children and some who have not been given access to due process.
What Does βFrom The River to the Seaβ Mean? - This phrase has become a fixture of recent protests around the world. Some feel itβs Anti-Semitic (it lead to the censure of US Rep. Rashida Tlaib), and for others its a rallying cry for freedom. I thought this article did a great job of getting various perspectives and explaining what the phrase means both to Jews and Palestinians.
There were additional resources shared in No. 189, No. 190, No. 191 and The Monthly Page.
π₯ ENJOY: Iβve decided I need more couscous in my life (maybe because I just like saying it), so send me your favorite couscous recipes if you have βem! Hereβs one currently in my rotation. Grilled Skirt Steak with Lemon Herb Couscous
