THE WEEKLY PAGE 📝 No. 182
The Google Doc that keeps my life together + this week's picks for work, wellness, and wonder.
In a world full of systems and processes, it has never been more important to have an SOP Doc.
What’s an SOP Doc? Well, you can call it what you want — but SOP stands for “Standard Operating Procedure,” and it’s a place to store the processes you perform regularly. It can save you time and, most importantly, mental bandwidth.
No matter how you spend your time — whether you’re a CEO, retiree, or a full-time caregiver — your day is full of processes. From creating complex reports to paying your water bill. If you have to Google the steps every time you do one of these processes, you’re likely wasting a lot of time and frustrating yourself in the process (see what I did there?!).
By typing them out once and putting them safely in an SOP Doc, you can create a “Guidebook” that hands you this information on a silver platter whenever you need it.
I keep mine in a Google Doc that I can access from anywhere, and I’ve found that Docs has some great features that increase usability — plus, it’s easy to share with co-workers or family members with the tap of a button.
If you don’t have an SOP Doc, I recommend getting one started. Below is a short bonus video I included in a past group course that will show you how mine is set up:
Sometimes my SOP Doc feels like my most prized possession — it’s become my hub for all the processes I perform in life + biz and it feels like such a relief when I sit down to do something I do monthly, quarterly, or annually and instead of falling down an internet rabbit hole of search queries and tutorials — I just pull up my SOP Doc 😅
Hope this helps!
🍲 EAT: Hopefully your garden or local farm stand are filling up with fresh tomatoes! Here’s a beautiful recipe for a Grilled Nectarine Burrata Salad you can use them in! I love how colorful this is and all the different flavors. It’s also great with peaches. Be sure to serve it with a cripsy baguette! Check the recipe out here.
📚 READ: Oat milk might not be as healthy as you think it is! One of the best health “swaps” I’ve made this year has been swapping oat milk for organic whole milk in my coffee. The reasons are laid out beautifully in this post by my friend Kate of The Reset. My main takeaway has been that I feel a stronger, more sustained boost of energy from my morning coffee. Read the article here.
🎧 LISTEN: My friend Gabby recently shared this podcast, which is meant for kids to listen to at bedtime, but she also mentioned using it for the car ride on the first day of school to help ease her son’s first-day anxiety…and I loved that. Kids really are just tiny adults who sometimes need their favorite podcast during the commute. You can find the show on Spotify or wherever you listen to podcasts.
📺 WATCH: I can’t remember where I saw this show recommended recently, but the author called it “the female version of Curb Your Enthusiasm,” and I was like, “Sign me up!” We started it this week, and I love it. It’s an Australian show, so I think some of the Aussie humor goes over our heads, but can I get a hellllll yeahhhhhh for a comedy series featuring a 47-year-old divorced lead character? The ashes scene from episode two had me on the floor. The show doesn’t have a trailer that I could find, but you can watch it on Netflix.
