THE MONTHLY PAGE 👩🏻💻 November 2023
Tech wallpapers, calendars, + resources to help you focus for the month ahead.
Do I have to start yet another one of these weekly dispatches with something along the lines of “the world is heavy” or “things are hard for a lot of us”? It appears I do. 😔
Between the ongoing unrest in the middle east that seems like an(other) inevitable war, and the mass shooting that took place in Maine this week, I know that so many members of this community are carrying a lot right now (again? still?) and at the very least I hope this newsletter gives you a moment to take a deep breath and have a moment to yourself.
This is a poem from David Gate that I’ve been holding close today:
Take this moment to remember:
You are not alone in the terrors of the age
Everywhere, hearts are breaking
& those hearts are seeking yours
You will find each other
The human spirit bends towards goodness
Even in chaos, even in death
History doesn’t just reveal our horrors
It reveals our persistence
Like wildflowers through cracks in concrete
The power of our courage cannot be resisted
I also have a couple of additional resources to share this week that I’ve found helpful:
🎧 LISTEN: Wiser World did a wonderful job of summarizing the history of Israel and Palestine in a way that is very digestible, easy to follow, and not dry. It’s a 3-part series with each episode averaging around 40-minutes. I think that having this foundational knowledge is so vital for navigating the landscape right now and hope you find this as helpful as I did. Listen here.
📰 READ: What does it mean to stand against genocide in Gaza while also supporting our Jewish friends and neighbors? I found this piece from The Guardian about Yuval Noah Harari’s (author of Sapiens) support of a statement on the “moral insensitivity” really helpful in grasping this. From the article: “There is no contradiction between staunchly opposing the Israeli subjugation and occupation of Palestinians and unequivocally condemning brutal acts of violence against innocent civilians. In fact, every consistent leftist must hold both positions simultaneously.” You can read it here.
My first-ever group program focused on aligning your work & wellness opened for enrollment last week. You’ll get one lesson per week (all around 30 minutes long) on six areas of wellness:
💦 Hydration - Week 001 / October 29
📝 Organization - Week 002 / November 5
🥗 Nutrition - Week 003 / November 12
👟 Exercise - Week 004 / November 19
🧡 Your “Y” - Week 005 / November 26
😴 Sleep - Week 006 / December 3
All lessons are online and you are able to consume them at your own pace. This series will be followed by three short lessons during the week of December 10th that will help you get systems in place to stay organized and facilitate gentle habit change.
If you’re looking for additional community and support after completing the course, enrollment will include an invitation to free events on the first Monday of every month throughout 2024 featuring an incredible lineup of doctors, dieticians, neurodiversity experts, motherhood coaches, psychotherapists, + more.
View the speaker lineup, learn more, and register here.
🎶 PLAYLIST: Here’s a playlist I created for our monthly Virtual Co-working Sessions. It has some great tunes to get you into a focused mindset and then gently guides you out with a couple fun songs at the end. It runs for exactly 1 hour so its the perfect playlist for a deep work session. The next Co-Working Session will be on Monday, December 4th from 9-10:30 AM if you’d like to mark you calendar (invite coming soon!). I’ll be taking November off from hosting this to focus on my group program folks!
🥗 RECIPES: Below are recipes that were featured in The Weekly Page over the past few weeks. Add them to your meal plan for November if you haven’t had a chance to try ‘em yet!
