How to Use Emojis on Your Computer 😃
Three Simple ways to Access Emoji Keyboards in All Your Favorite Desktop Programs
I'm a very visual person, so I use emojis anywhere I can --- I put them into my Google Calendar events, label my Bookmark Folders, and use them to identify habits in my Habit Tracker.
In my group courses I take students behind the scenes to see how my systems are set up, and often get asked how to access and use emojis on the computer! One student even reached out after she had been emailing herself the emojis she wanted to use from her phone! It's easier than that, I promise.
So, just in case you also aren't sure of the best way to add a taco emoji to your recurring Taco Tuesday calendar event, here's a cheat sheet!
Since I work on a Windows computer, I just hold the Windows key and then press the period key to access the Emoji Menu. Once the Emoji Menu pops up, you can type a word (for example: dog), and it will suggest the emoji for you.
On an Apple computer, you'll hit Control + Command + Spacebar to access emojis.
If those don't work, you may need to update your operating system to get this option, but you can also use a website like EmojiKeyboard.io. It's not quite as streamlined and fast, but it'll get the job done.
If you use Google Chrome (it's the browser I recommend!), you can also try installing an extension, such as Emoji Keyboard. Although this only works for in-browser activities, you can easily copy and paste the emojis into other programs.
That's it! A quick and simple tutorial this week but one I hope is helpful if you love visual labeling as much as I do.
So helpful, as ever Dani. Thanks for the clear instructions!
So helpful! I love reading through the different tips you share each month to streamline things. Thanks Dani🩵
