The idea of not using AI being a privileged position really resonated. I have felt that (AI support replacing ZERO support, not a human's job), but haven't been able to articulate it. Your piece and the ones you linked did so clearly. I wish that my tiny nonprofit could afford to hire people (at living wages, not poorly or unpaid interns/volunteers) to do all the things I've used AI to do. But so far AI has only replaced some of the parts of my job that I dislike and suck at anyway.
Have you heard of Claude Corps? Its an initiative Claude just launched last week, that will place AI Experts in residency at non-profits for 12 months starting in October. Maybe its something your org could apply to be part of? https://www.anthropic.com/claude-corps
Wow this is so well written & thought through Dani. I really appreciate your not using AI as a privilege position. Both my husband & I have to use it at work, and I’m personally asked how I use it at work as a measure of performance.
Thank you for sharing resources - I realize I came to a semi-similar conclusion just with less deep thought about the true impact & AI vs. Capitalism. I’m going to be doing some of my own deep research so I can have better conversations with those around me.
I’ve found that a lot of friends/family who aren’t as plugged in often don’t know what to think, so I’d love to be able to be a smaller advocate for the type of AI you and so many others are speaking about.
Perfect. Totally worth the (not so long) wait. The article and Instagram post were also very informative, so thanks for including those.
